Sam Boullier: Senior Sound Editor
Sam is filmmaker from Yorkshire, living in London working in film and television as a content director, producer and editor. His work has been featured in and on, amongst others, the Aesthetica Film Festival, BBC Four, BFI Future Film Festival, Brainchild Arts Festival, Little White Lies, ID, Dazed and Confused, the Edinburgh Fringe, Raindance Film Festival, the Royal Television Society Awards and the Television Cameramen Guild Awards. He is a Telecine Operator at Analogue Image T/A On8mil.
Merv de Peyer: Composer
Merv de Peyer has played piano from the ago of 4 in London and went to study at the famous Berkley School of Music in Boston. He started his professional career in New York City composing, arranging, producing and performing with greats like artists like Miles Davis, Eddie Murphy, New Order, Cameo and Madonna. He and his Father Gervase de Peyer, the great clarinetist and conductor recorded a jazz album together “Illuminations.”
Sadie Jemmett: Songwriter-Singer
Singer-songwriter Sadie Jemmett is a British singer-songwriter based in London, who plays guitar, piano, dulcimer and harmonica. At age 12 taught herself guitar and by 14 played in the bands African Ambassadors, Bridge, Easter Island and, most successfully, Soil. Sadie has written the music for plays at the Galway Arts Theatre, for The Rose Theatre Company, the score for a musical theatrical version of Bertolt Brecht’s Good Woman of Szechuan at Théâtre Vidy, Lucerne & Théâtre de Chaillot, starring Irina Brook and Romane Bohringer. She has recorded several albums and has supported Kt Tunstall and Judy Collins.
Paul Culos: Graphic Designer
Paul is a child of the 80’s originally from Detroit, Michigan. He started acting at the age of 9 before he pursued formal training at Western Michigan University, where he received a BA in Theatre Performance. He traveled overseas to study at the British American Drama Academy and then continued training at the University of California: Irvine. He completed his Masters of Fine Arts in 2010 in Acting. After Irvine, Paul decided he had graduated from enough schools and moved to Los Angeles. He continues to pursue acting in film, television, theatre, commercials, and any open street corner. He is a member at The Antaeus Company in North Hollywood. When not acting, you will likely find him swimming, graphic designing, sketching things, and taking too many photos of his cats, Muse & Jonesy.
The Interns
Kevin Sanchez
Kevin Sanchez is a student who lives and grew up in Chicago Illinois. He’s currently getting his BFA in Film and Television, with his concentration in editing and a minor in visual effects. When not keeping busy with work, he often goes to the downtown area to walk, often for his mobile games.
Kate Ezubova
Kate Ezubova is a junior double-majoring in Music and Film and New Media in NYU Abu Dhabi. She specializes in sound design for cinema, although sometimes works as a photographer, composes neo-classical music and plays piano, saxophone and oud. Kate is interested in the Arabic and African ethnomusicology, so she spends a lot of time in the regions studying the different types of traditional music and musical instruments.
Avery Petersen
Avery Petersen is a dedicated sound design student at Columbia College Chicago, excelling in post-production sound for movies and TV, as well as interactive technical sound implementation for video games. She brings passion, expertise, and a creative approach to every project she undertakes.
Ethan Mattheus
Ethan is a sound editing intern with Cinema Sounds and Secrets and a first-year MFA student at Columbia University in New York. He received his BFA from DePaul University’s School of Cinematic Arts in Screenwriting. Before interning at CSS, Ethan worked as a film critic for DePaul’s student newspaper and wrote script coverage for American High, an independent production company.
Delaney Hunt
Delaney Hunt is a public relations and digital media graduate from Marquette University currently living in St. Louis. When she’s not helping out with the Cinema Sounds & Secrets podcast she can be found spending time with friends, baking, attempting to crochet, and watching movies. A few of her favorites include Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), Mulholland Drive (2001), The Virgin Suicides (1999), and Thelma & Louise (1991).
Jonah Fiden
Jonah Fiden currently resides in Chicago working freelance as a location sound recordist and professional dialogue editor. Whether it be on the field recording films or behind the computer editing projects, their job is to make artist’s creative visions a reality via audio. Jonah strongly believes in having a personal connection with their collaborators. It creates an environment in which their crew is treated with respect and allows for comradery to occur. They wish to continue their work in the Chicagoland area and are eager to collaborate with other artists.
Scarlett Mosher
Scarlett “DB” Mosher is excited to be a part of the Cinema Sounds and Secrets team as a Social Media Intern. An undergraduate student at Bryn Mawr College, Scarlett is studying History and English, and wants to pursue a career in Marketing, PR, or Communications. They are passionate about all things film, and have participated in many short films, both in front of and behind the scenes!
Madeline Curless
Madeline Curless is a rising senior at DePaul University in Chicago studying Film & TV with a minor in Creative Advertising. Along with working on Cinema Sounds and Secrets, she is a concert photographer for OutJamz. In her free time, you will find her playing guitar, biking on Chicago’s lakefront, or rewatching her favorite movies: Almost Famous (2000), The Muppet Movie (1979), Cleo from 5 to 7 (1962), or Good Will Hunting (1997).
Jabrenee Hussie
Jabrenee Hussie is currently a Master of Entertainment Industry Management Student at Carnegie Mellon University. Not only does she enjoy TV and film but is also very intrigued by the influence music has on TV and film which drew her to the Cinema Sounds and Secrets Podcast. As the former Podcast Producer at the Arts Management and Technology Laboratory @ CMU she was excited to go back to working on another podcast and exploring a new subject matter and production style. Her interest in TV, film, and music has deepened tremendously since becoming a CSS intern and she hopes that this opportunity and the others to come only further ignite that passion.
Lauren Sloan
Lauren Sloan is a recent graduate of DePaul University with a degree in Film and Television Production who is currently based out of Chicago. When she’s not acting as a research intern for CSS, she can be found watching classic movies and crocheting.
Amy Hattori
Amy Hattori is a WashU grad currently based out of Atlanta Georgia. Her favorite movie is either Little Women (2019) or Little Miss Sunshine.
Tara Lindenbaum
Tara Lindenbaum is a rising junior at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Film and Media Studies with a concentration in Film Production. In addition to being a research intern for Cinema Sounds and Secrets, she is actively involved in an improv group at her university, Mama’s Pot Roast, and in a sketch comedy group, Kids on Campus. She also loves to bake and read.
Past Interns
Caroline Weinstein
Caroline Weinstein is a current junior double-majoring in Film & Media Production and International Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. Before beginning her internship with CSS Productions, Caroline worked as a video and sound editor for an international marketing agency in Tel Aviv. She also has experience working with the federal government, interning at the USAID to help increase congressional funding for international conflict reconciliation programming. In her free time, Caroline likes to watch movies and obsess over her dog, Theodore.
Spencer Kates
Spencer Kates is a sophomore undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis. He is majoring in Global Studies with a concentration in International Affairs, and minoring in Music. In addition to editing episodes of Cinema Sounds & Secrets, Spencer also produces music with his band, Non Euclidean Geometry, and is a part of his university’s radio station, KWUR 90.3 FM. Outside of the audio world, Spencer also enjoys running, spending time with his cat Maizy, and playing Wii with his roommates.
Natalie Eng
Natalie Eng is currently studying computer science and human-computer interaction at Washington University in St. Louis. As an avid movie-watcher, she’s excited to have the opportunity to intern at Cinema Sounds & Secrets. Outside of CSS, Natalie is typically coding creative projects or designing fun graphics. When away from her computer, Natalie enjoys thrifting and perfecting her matcha latte recipe, and during quarantine, she also picked up crocheting!
Kimberly Buehler
I am a Junior at WashU studying English and Marketing. I am from New York City. I love watching movies/TV, eating food (pizza is my favorite), and playing soccer.
Ali Meltzer
Ali Meltzer is a rising junior at Washington University in St Louis studying English Literature and Film and Media Studies. Beyond working at CSS, Ali is the Director of Awards and Distribution and a writer and creative director for an arts and culture magazine, Armour Magazine, and a Marketing intern at a Los Angeles-based digital creative agency.
Owen Hasler
After graduating from WashU in 2020, Owen directed and shot a feature film he wrote in St Louis. He moved to Los Angeles at the beginning of 2022 to start work for Monkey Deux, a trailer and behind-the-scenes company. Owen would love to get back out to London at some point to go on more great Primrose Hill walks with Janet and Pen.
Kiva Runnels
Kiva Runnels is a recent graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, now living in Los Angeles and endeavoring to explore every corner of the creative world. Kiva is a project coordinator, designer, writer, and art enthusiast. She is currently working in outreach for a public library, assistant directing an independent film set to release in 2024, and developing her sound design skills with Cinema Sounds and Secrets. Kiva loves facilitating creativity in all its forms, and when she’s not working, you can find her writing, starting a new arts & crafts project, or trying not to cry while watching Bluey.
Isabelle Roig
Isabelle Roig is a second-year master’s student at Washington University in St. Louis in the Film & Media Studies department. When she isn’t studying (or obsessing over) movies, she works as an independent photographer and creative director – her work can be seen at isabelleroig.com. Additionally, Isabelle’s “Letterboxd Top 4” movies are Daisies (1966), Paris Texas (1984), Moulin Rouge! (2001), and Casino (1995).
Tatiana Behar Russy
Tatiana Behar Russy, from Cali – Colombia. I am currently a Master’s student in Entertainment Industry Management at Carnegie Mellon University. I love movies and the Film Industry, and I’m very excited to be part of the Cinema Sounds & Secrets team… to discover some secrets 🙂
